I am Priscilla. I also use the nickname of Harimau when I used to blog on moments in a day. Harimau was a nickname by my family as I was born in the year of Tiger, and it’s very dear to me. But my parents didn’t name me Priscilla, I did. I named myself Priscilla because I became frustrated with people mispronouncing my name when I first came to Perth as a 16 yo high school student. Plus I didn’t like standing out in front of a group of students. So, I thought to make life easier for my peers and the school, I named myself Priscilla! And it kinda sticks with me from then on.
The novelty of having a preferred name (Priscilla) has beceome quite funny when friends and colleagues discovered my real name. There have been jokes about me being the illegal migrant secretly married working then having 2 kids living in Perth, using different names as cover up, different identity and etc!
I moved to Perth from Singapore almost 10 years ago and that’s exactly how long I have been married for. Malaysia is my home, where my parents are. Brunei was where I grew up, where I spent my childhood and teenage years. I had to wear the tudung, baju kurong during my later school years.
I love cooking, baking, learning to sew, eating, biscuits, fish, bitter gourd, eel, sushi, chicken feet, grapefruit, talking, being creative, playing with my kids, guiding them, sharing parenting stuff with friends, blogging, I also love driving very much, it gives me the freedom to go lots of places, sometimes I love to have more time in a day when I can learn to bake and ice a cake professionally, do more Pilates classes, read more, cook more, sleep more….

Ain’t it funny how small the world is? My cousin is going back to Brunei this weekend for 5 weeks. I still consider Brunei my hometown even if I’ve been in Canada for almost 20 years!
